Chapter 1: From London to Alexandria

Bruce began his journey in London on June 12, 1768. He traveled by ship to Alexandria, where he arrived on August 10. In Alexandria, Bruce met with the British consul, who introduced him to the local authorities. Chapter 2: Through Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula

From Alexandria, Bruce traveled south through Egypt. He visited the pyramids of Giza and the ruins of Thebes. He also crossed the Red Sea into the Arabian Peninsula. In Arabia, Bruce traveled through the desert and visited the cities of Mecca and Medina.

Chapter 3: Into Abyssinia

Bruce entered Abyssinia in 1770. He traveled through the country, visiting the cities of Gondar and Axum. He also met with the Emperor of Abyssinia, Tekle Haymanot II. Bruce spent several years in Abyssinia, exploring the country and searching for the source of the Nile.

Chapter 4: The Search for the Source of the Nile

Bruce began his search for the source of the Nile in 1771. He traveled up the Blue Nile River, following it to its source in Lake Tana. Bruce was the first European to reach the source of the Blue Nile.

Chapter 5: The Source of the Blue Nile

Bruce reached the source of the Blue Nile on November 14, 1773. He described the source as a small spring, which he named the "Fountain of the Nile." Bruce's discovery of the source of the Blue Nile was a major breakthrough in the exploration of Africa.

Chapter 6: Return to Europe

Bruce left Abyssinia in 1774 and returned to Europe. He arrived in London on June 10, 1776. Bruce's journey had lasted for eight years, and he had traveled over 10,000 miles. He was welcomed back to England as a hero, and his book, Travels Through Part of Africa, Syria, Egypt, and Arabia, into Abyssinia, to Discover the Source of the Nile, was a bestseller.
